Dr Carlton Cannon, director of bands at The Cab Calloway School of the Arts and Pastor of the Clarence Street Church of God is the featured musician during Café Night at Connection Church in Laurel on Sunday Sept 20 at 6PM.
Dr Cannon, a highly acclaimed saxophonist will be joined in glorifying the Lord in song by The Peace Initiative, a group of seasoned jazz musicians from Philadelphia and surrounding areas. We are also pleased to welcome, our guest speaker Lisa Johnson co-owner of Benvenuto Restaurant. Come be encouraged by her testimony to the goodness of God. Fall desserts will be served beforehand. There is no charge to attend. A love offering to bless the musicians will be welcome. Connection Church is located at 28714 Seaford Rd in Laurel DE. Join the Partnership in Reentry Coalition of Delaware for the 10th Annual The Need for Partnership Conference: Reentry Solutions. Community, state, faith-based, criminal-justice, court, legislative, advocacy, family, and formerly justice-involved partners will gather to identify barriers to successful reentry and develop practical solutions. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., at Wilmington University’s Center for Law, Justice and Society in Dover.
Author Margaret (Midge) Ingersoll will be reading from and signing copies of Handsell: Three Cultures, One Story at the newly reopened Harriet Tubman Musuem and Educational Center.
The evening will begin with light refreshments at 6:00 p.m., with a reading and signing to follow at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public.
