Suspended Pocomoke City Manager Asks for Job Back

Pocomoke City website

During a public hearing last night the suspended Pocomoke City Manager Bobby Cowger asked to be reinstated.

He was joined his attorney and dozens of community leaders in support of reinstatement.

WBOC reports that after 18 months in office it is unclear why he was let go.

The council only cited unsatisfactory performance and a personnel matter.

His attorney Robin Cockey told the council that he believed the dismissal was unlawful saying that a number of readings needed to be made in public before action could be taken.

There were supporters of his dismissal with one community member saying that they recognized that doing the right thing is not always easy.

The city’s attorney said a final decision would be made at its next council meeting on Thursday.
