Bobby Cowger the former Pocomoke City manager says his lawyer is seeking mediation that would result in a compromise.
But Cowger said he is considering a lawsuit against the town if such efforts fail.
His attorney Robin Cockey told WBOC that if the city officials reject the request the situation could become divisive.
He added that Cowger’s termination was not properly carried out under the city charter.
Cockey set a deadline of the end of next week before filing a lawsuit against the city.
