Seaford Now "Right-to-Work" Town

official photo

Seaford is now a “right-to-work” town after an ordinance was unanimously approved by the city council last December.

Mayor David Genshaw announced yesterday that the measure would attract business to the city.

The ordinance forbids anyone be required to join a union or pay dues as a condition of employment.

WBOC reports that local union representative John Rodriguez said the ordinance would hurt workers.

He told the television station that he was disappointed there were no public hearings before a vote was taken.

The announcement comes after Sussex County decided not to move forward with a similar measure due to potential legal issues.
