Seaford Shuts Down 911 Center

The 911 Center in Seaford is being shut down.

The calls will not be redirected to the Emergency Operations Center in Georgetown.

WBOC reports that the city is one among many other municipalities which have begun using the emergency call center in Georgetown.

Mayor David Genshaw told the television station that he expects the city to save around $650-thousand in operating costs.

But not all backed the idea.

Council member James King said that he believed there were other ways save money that without affecting the safety of local residents.

Meanwhile, the mayor said that the city will provide help to those employed at the center to look for other jobs.
