New Last Call Hour in Selbyville

Eleven-thirty p. m. is now the time for last call at Selbyville restaurants for patrons who want last alcoholic beverage to cap off the night.

And, consumption must end by midnight.

The City Council approved the new ordinance this week.

And Council member Frank Smith called the measure -- a way to maintain the perception that the town is safe.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the ordinance was prompted by several late-night altercations at establishments in the town.

The most recent was a stabbing at Pomeroy’s on US 113 early last month in which two men were charged.
