Death Penalty Bill in Delaware Legislature

official photo

There’s legislation that would restore the death penalty in Delaware.

It’s sponsored by state Representative Steve Smyk who hopes to get a public hearing in the House Judiciary Committee.

The Delaware Republican told WBOC that he is concerned about time running out in the state senate to get the measure approved.

The Delaware death penalty was ruled unconstitutional four years ago but is still on the books.

And, state Democratic Senator Sean Lynn told the television station that while he expects the bill to be heard he believes it will still not be considered constitutional.
