Some 30 dogs have escaped the destruction from an earthquake in Puerto Rico and have landed into the hands of the Brandywine Valley SPCA.

WBOC reports that it was part of an emergency evacuation when their shelters were damaged on the island while others faced being euthanized because of a lack of water and food.

The Delaware animal shelter said the dogs have been locally vetted and been given certificates of health.

They are now being examined at the Animal Rescue Center.

They will be up for adoption beginning today at all three campuses.
