official photo

Eight names are now being considered for Dover Police Chief.

That comes from a list of 22 qualified candidates.

WBOC reports that Mayor Robin Christiansen says interviews will be offered to the remaining eight with a final candidate expected to be confirmed in December.

He says if a vote cannot be taken at the first council meeting then a special session will be held to make the appointment by the end of that month.

Former chief Marvin Mailey who is African American retired earlier this year but the city now faces a lawsuit by a senior officer who claims he was discriminated against because he is white.
