Crisfield City Council Supports New Hotel & Conference Center

Don Rush

It was 5-to-zero vote by the Crisfield City Council to support a new hotel and conference center.

The hall was packed by business owners and community members.

The plan was presented by The Greater Crisfield Action Coalition and Ocean City developer Peck Miller.

WBOC reports that they see this as a way to turn historic Crisfield into what Miller said was “a cultural Jewel of the Eastern Shore.”

The plan includes a waterfront hotel along with a conference center for small retreats.

In addition, there would be a Watermen’s Memorial Park, a multi-story parking garage as well as boardwalks.

The project needs a $150-thosuand grant for the design and studies.

WBOC reports that several business owners told the council they supported the plan to help the struggling town.
