Authorities say a raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Pemberton Drive area of Salisbury.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Wicomico Health Department warns local residents to stay away from all wild or stray animals.

They are also telling parents to warn their children to avoid unfamiliar animals.

In addition, they are asking owners to keep their pets confined.

Finally, they want residents to secure any outside garbage.
