Former correctional officer at the Eastern Correction Institution has been sentenced to serve more than four years on charges of racketeering conspiracy and stabbing an inmate.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports 28 year-old Rachelle Hankerson will spend 52 months in prison which will be followed by three years of supervised release.
She is one of 18 correctional officers charged in the case that involved 80 defendants.
The paper reports that Hankerson admitted to charging facilitators and inmates at least $500 for each package of contraband smuggled into the prison.
