The Eastern Correctional Institution is looking for more staff.
And officials are moving their hiring resources from Annapolis to Somerset County.
Officials are looking to have 30 additional officers in training by October.
Director of Professional Services Gary McLhinney told WBOC that changes in the hiring procedures are coming in the next few weeks.
There will be a recruitment event on Friday at Wor Wic Community College starting at 8 a.m. through noon.
McLhinney told the television station that there will be events over the next few weeks as well as bimonthly weekend walk-in testing.
