Report Critical of Kathleen Davies Time in Auditor's Office

Facebook

A new report has found that Kathleen Davies second in commander under state Auditor Tom Wagner violated financial standards and appears to have created a hostile work environment.

Those are the conclusions of a report called, “Investigation into Actions of the Chief Administrative Auditor”.

The Wilmington News Journal says that while Wagner was absent due to medical procedures the report says Davies signed documents in his names, accessed his email and awarded a $20-thousand contract to a friend.

In 2015 Wagner commissioned the outside auditing company Grant Thornton to look into complaints against Davies that she had violated office protocols and auditing standards.

In responding to the report Davies said that she had followed standard procedures while working in the auditor’s office.

Davies is running for state auditor as a Democrat after serving as chief administrative auditor before she was dismissed in late 2017.

Wagner, a Republican, announced he would not seek re-election earlier this year because of health issues.
