Drilling for TCE Contamination in Wicomico County

The Maryland Department of the Environment is drilling 10 monitoring wells in the Morris Mill and Colburn Woods communities to check for trichloroethene.

The chemical known as TCE is commonly used as an industrial solvent and is a known carcinogen.

MDE found concerning levels of TCE in roughly 25 Salisbury homes.

Once the drilling is finished, says Art O’Connell chief of MDE’s Waste Management Administration Superfund, investigators will begin taking samples of the groundwater.
