Seaford Mayor Ready to Retire

Ed Butler who has spent 25 years in City Hall in Seaford and is currently the town's mayor has announced that he is retiring.

The Wilmington News Journal reports Butler, who is in his third term as mayor, will step down from his post this spring.

Butler was elected to the city council in 1986, and had only one contested election during his seven terms.

Two of Butler's colleagues on the council are in the race to succeed him, including Pat Jones and Bill Bennett. Both candidates say economic development and jobs are at the top of the priority list for the town.

The municipal election will be held April 21.
