Fifty years ago, The Chorus of Dorchester began performing in celebration of our nation’s 200th anniversary. Still going strong, the Chorus will celebrate America’s semiquincentennial (say that three times fast!) with a summer concert that will feature many of the best-loved patriotic songs and spirituals that have dazzled audiences over five decades..
No auditions are required, but the ability to read music is helpful to be part of this group that has provided over 300 free concerts since its beginning. The annual Artisans Fair, featuring handcrafted art objects, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Lord Baltimore Elementary School on Route 26 in Ocean View, DE.
Named among the best 10 shows in Delaware by bestofde.com, the fair includes artisans both indoors and outdoors and a Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other attractions are a raffle on art items donated by the exhibitors, a 50-50 cash raffle, a golf package raffle, baked goods sale, and Cucina Veloce food truck. Free admission and free parking. A shuttle to and from the venue is available at overflow parking lots. Textiles, metalwork, fine art, glass, jewelry, pottery, photography, woodwork, sculpture, and home décor will be on display.
Proceeds benefit the college scholarship fund of South Coastal Delaware AARP.
