DOVER, Del. (AP) - Jury deliberations are set in the trial of a former custodian charged with murder in the shooting of a man outside a Delaware elementary school.
Jurors were to begin deliberating the fate of 54-year-old Rodney West on Thursday after hearing closing arguments on Wednesday.
West is charged with killing 39-year-old Derrick Combs in August 2018 on the property of Towne Point Elementary School in Dover.
Police said no students were at the school at the time.
West was later arrested by U.S. Marshals in Montgomery County, Maryland and extradited to Delaware.
Officials have said the shooting involved a domestic dispute stemming from text messages exchanged between West and Combs' wife, who also worked at the school.
West rejected a manslaughter plea deal. He claims he shot Combs in self-defense.
