With declining temperatures Sussex County is gearing up to open several overnight shelters next month.

And WBOC reports it’s looking for as many as 132 volunteers to staff to staff the Cold Purple days ahead.

Its tasks range from clean-up and transportation to laundry and intake of those seeking shelter.

Cold Purple provides emergency shelter for the homeless at eight locations from December 1st through mid-March.

Training sessions are being offered at a number of churches in the county through November 21st.
