Local Wins Second Title in White Marlin Open

fishoc.com

Tommy Hinkle picked up his second title win in the White Marlin Open.

It took him eleven years but he came in with a 79.5 pound white marlin in the 46th annual event.

That means the Stephen Decatur teacher is expected to pick up $1.5 million in prize money.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that no angler has ever won multiple titles.

There were over 400 boats this year including the Catch 23 owned by famed basketball player Michael Jordan who was seen at the tournament.

They were all in the hunt for a piece of the $6.1 million in total prize money.
