White Marlin Open Begins, Tourists on the Boardwalk

Don Rush

There was a record of 389 boats that went out on Monday for the start of the 46th annual White Marlin Open.

They included the Catch 23 owned by basketball star Michael Jordon.

A 74-pound white marlin was brought in yesterday by Nathan Walker with the Virginia based Chasin Tail.

WBOC reports that vessel arrived at 4:30 p.m. shortly after the 4 o’clock opening of the scales.

The boats are allowed to be out in the ocean from 8:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, businesses and tourists bask in the glow of the event. Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush spent the day on the Boardwalk.
