OC Sued Over Death of Woman Buried in Sand

creative commons

In 2017 a Texas woman died of asphyxia while buried in the sand in Ocean City.

Now the mother of Ashley O’Connor has filed a federal lawsuit against the resort charging gross negligence.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the suit charges that Ocean City beach tractors ran over her resulting in her being covered up and suffocating.

It says that the workers failed to make sure that the hole was clear of people before covering it up thus resulting in the gross negligence claim.

The paper reports that the Ocean City Beach Patrol website says that beachgoers are barred from digging holes and that the resort uses tractors to clear trash and fill them in.
