Two Teens Rescued From Rip Current in Ocean City

Don Rush

Two teenage girls were rescued by the Ocean City Beach Patrol yesterday after being nearly swept away as lifeguards are warning visitors of powerful rip currents.

One of the teens Katelyn Horne told WBOC that she was just standing, going over the waves when the rip current pushed her out.

Alyssa Beck, the other teen, said she was thankful for the beach patrol’s quick response.

The rip currents become even more dangerous with the increased winds from tropical storms.

As for advice lifeguards urge beachgoers to remain calm and indicate that they are in trouble and need assistance.
