Lots of Rescues by Ocean City Beach Patrol

Don Rush

It’s a busy time for the Ocean City Beach Patrol.

Sgt. Rick Cawthern told WBOC that just last week there nearly a thousand rescues.

He adds that the signs warning people of the dangers of drowning are often ignored by the public as they jump into the ocean waters.

The Ocean City Beach Patrol warns inexperienced swimmers not to go out if there is no lifeguard on duty.

Meanwhile, in Assateague Park officials reported a drowning death of a Connecticut man who was found around an hour and a half after the lifeguards left their posts for the day.
