The board for the United Way of the Lower Shore has issued a statement in response to the claim by the former CEO of the organization that she was abruptly fired.

In addition, Kathleen Momme claimed that the board tried to buy her silence with donor funds.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that in a letter issued by the board the organization said four of the nine staff members quit between May and June of this year.

The board said the staffers had serious concerns with the former CEO and the work environment.

The board said they that brought in an independent human resources consultant who interviewed not only staff but Momme as well.

After the investigation the board unanimously voted to terminate her employment and begin the search for a new CEO.
