Dismissed Lower Shore United Way Official Speaks Out

United Way

Kathleen Momme is breaking her silence after she was abruptly terminated as president and CEO of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

The Salisbury Daily Times she wrote in a letter that it has been a painful and heartbreaking end to her career with the organization.

Her departure was announced last week by the group’s board which said that the decision was a personnel matter.

The paper reports she said that she had been terminated based on what she said were concerns by staff about her management style.

Momme said until June 22nd she was not aware of any problems and was not told exactly what they were.

The Daily Times reports that the board’s executive committee would not say what the allegations were.

In her letter she blamed a generational gap and accountability for causing problems with the younger staff members.
