It's Pony Penning Week

It’s that time of year again for Pony Penning Week.

It kicked off this weekend with the roundup of the ponies and will see the Saltwater Cowboys move the ponies to the north end of Assateague Island.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that on Wednesday they will swim across the channel to Chincoteague Island and be paraded through the town.

On Thursday they will be auctioned off raising money for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.

Some will be returned after the auction.

The fire company uses some of the money for the veterinarian care of the ponies throughout the year.
