Bear Trailer Park Could Be Replaced by Big Development

google map

A Bear trailer park could be replaced by a thousand units in a complex of apartments, townhomes and office space.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that New Castle land use officials are looking at the proposed development for the Glasgow Trailer Court.

If approved the entire 114-acre parcel would be developed over the next decade.

The development would consist of 800 apartments and another 200 townhomes.

In addition, it would have 200-thousand square feet of commercial and retail space and another 150-thousand square feet would be slate for office space, a nursing home and community center.

The News Journal reports that a trust fund will be set up to help with relocation of tenants with a minimum of $15-hundred.

The plans have been in the works for a few years…with the company telling the tenants that such state restrictions would make it difficult to continue the trailer park.
