Governor John Carney signs three measures to fight drug addiction in Delaware.

The first bill removes pre-authorization insurance requirements for treatment as well as requiring insurance company to fund inpatient care.

The second measure allows the state insurance commissioner and the state Attorney General’s Office the ability to offer legal advice and even representation for families dealing with denied appeals for treatment.

The third law would create the Delaware Prescription Monitoring Program Advisory Committee to make recommendations on improving the existing program.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that 92 people have died from suspected overdoses so far this year while 308 died last year.
