Schwartz Center for the Arts Faces Donation Crisis

Schwartz Center for the Arts

The Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover is expected to get less funding than usual.

Delaware State University and Wesley College not expected to provide money although WBOC reports that Center officials say they have not received any formal notice.

Board President Tracey Miller told the television station the colleges had told the Center three years ago that they might have to cut back.

She said that in the early 2000’s the two colleges stepped in to help the financially struggling arts center with each providing a $60-thousand annual contribution.

Miller told WBOC that without the funding the arts center will have to come up with $120-thousand and that it has been years since it has been involved in such fundraising.
