The animal rights group Mercy for Animals says it has secretly recorded videos of Tyson Food workers pulling the heads off of live broiler chickens.

The video shown to USA TODAY is of a plant in Mississippi where some 2.5 million chickened are slaughtered each week.

The paper reports that the group also has affidavits alleging misdemeanor animal cruelty by Tyson and six slaughterhouse workers.

Worth Sparkman, a spokesman for Tyson, told the paper that that one of the employees in the video has been fired and called the images appalling.
