Online Medical Records Program Unveiled in Virginia

all-free-download

GLEN ALLEN, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association has introduced a new way for Virginians to check the patient safety record of hospitals online.

The advocacy group debuted the Quality and Patient Safety Scorecard this week. Association President Sean Connaughton says the tool provides information about health care-associated infections, patient safety, hospital readmission rates, mortality data, patient satisfaction and the efficiency of Medicare spending per beneficiary from 2010 through 2014.

The format allows customers to check the information for all years for each hospital that is a member of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.

The scorecard gathers data from several sources including the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Virginia Health Information and the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.
