Eastern Shore Congressman Andy Harris pledged to ensure that homeless veterans are taken care of.

He hosted a conference in Cambridge on Saturday for veterans who face the possibility of becoming homeless again.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that it will no longer support the Veterans Support Center of America in Quantico that assists vets in finding transitional and permanent housing.

The VA spokesperson at the conference said that the contract with the center will expire at the end of September.

He added that it could take from six months to a year for a new contract to be signed.

Jerry Black, co-founder and general manager of the center told WBOC, that he wants Harris to use his position on the House Appropriations Committee to get the contract extended.
