CLAYMONT, Del. (AP) - A proposed office, manufacturing and transit hub in Claymont could bring as many as 5,000 jobs to eastern Delaware.
The Wilmington News Journal reports the multimillion-dollar, 425-acre project, dubbed First State Crossing, could attract multiple employers and bringing thousands of jobs to the site.
The St. Louis-based developer, Commercial Development Company, transforms outdated industrial properties into office, manufacturing and retail space.
The proposed First State Crossing development is divided into four sections: a corporate center, employment center, transit center and a port. The site will sit on 30 acres along the Philadelphia Pike next to Naamans Creek in Claymont.
The company will have to demolish an existing steel mill before development begins but an environmental study is required first. That study is expected to occur within in two years.
