Worcester County Sheriff’s Office said they have swept up 18 people in a campaign against alleged sexual predators.

The effort was called Operation Worcester Safety Net and law enforcement officials said that many of them allegedly showed up in the county for the sole purpose of engaging in sexual relations with minors.

Authorities said that other suspects were found to have computer containing videos and images of child pornography or shared such material with others on-line.

Lt. Mike McDermott said that there was “a terrible presence on line for people who were willing to prey upon our children.”

Police said they were monitoring a number of website including the ad section of Craigslist and found people clearly looking for sexual partners.
