DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's new chief medical examiner is getting some face time with the state panel that oversees his newly created division.

Dr. Gary Collins will be introduced Tuesday at a meeting of the state Commission on Forensic Science.

The commission is charged with providing oversight and guidance to the Division of Forensic Science, which was created earlier this year amid an evidence tampering scandal at the state drug-testing lab.

The lab was part of the chief medical examiner's office, which was abolished and replaced with the Division of Forensic Science.

The commission faces a Jan. 31 deadline for submitting a report on the structure of the new division and whether additional operational changes should be made.
