Former Delaware Medical Examiner's License Suspended

Delaware’s former chief medical examiner has had his license suspended for 18 months.

The Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline to the action again Dr. Richard Callery who was involved in the controversies over missing drug evidence and the use of state resources for personal business.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the board called his actions “dishonorable and unethical”.

It said that Callery had participated in a pattern of negligence.

The paper reports that its 2014 investigation revealed that since the year 2000 he had been testifying as an expert for hire.

The former chief medical examiner pleaded no contest in 2015 for using workers and equipment for his private consulting operations.

He received one year probation, was ordered to pay $100-thousand in restitution and had his medical license suspended for two years.
