Mark Brainard has been hired as the new president of Delaware Technical and Community College.
The Board of Trustees announced the promotion of the school’s second in command during its meeting yesterday.
Brainard has been executive vice president – a position which was created last year at the urging of longtime president Orlando George.
George retired 19 months ago.
Brainard was the only candidate for the top job after Murray Hoy, president of Wor-Wic Community College, backed out of an offer because he and the board could not agree on a contract.
Hoy will remain as president of Wor-Wic.
