A federal law suit has been filed against Wor-Wic Community College charging that its police training program led was negligently designed and dangerous.
It was filed last month by Cynthia Mowery and Brian Alexander who were students in its Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Mowery says she suffered a serious brain injury due to the negligence of the personnel.
She had been training with the Academy as part of her training for the Elkton Police department.
Meanwhile, Alexander working as a seasonal officer for the Ocean City Police Department said that he was hit so hard during training that he lost consciousness.
The paper reports that lawsuit charges this was at the hands of the Defense Tactical Instructor Barry Smith whose background the suit alleges was not thoroughly vetted.
The Daily Times reports that Wor-Wic did not respond to requests for comment on the story.
