NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Police say six children were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after a school bus crash in Newark.

The crash occurred Monday morning on Christiana Parkway near the Newark Charter School.

Police say the bus driver missed the turn for the school, then pulled into the path of a car while making a U-turn from the right lane.

There were 16 children on the bus and police say six children, ranging in age from 5 to 9, were taken to Christiana Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The 51-year-old woman who was driving the car hit by the bus was taken to the hospital with minor neck and arm injuries.

Police cited the bus driver, 59-year-old Joseph Walcott of Newark, for making an improper U-turn.
