ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The former spokeswoman for disgraced Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold has agreed to settle her wrongful termination suit for $110,000.

Karla Hamner, who served as Leopold's spokeswoman in 2007 and 2008, accepted the offer made by county lawyers last week.

Hamner's lawyer, John Singleton, tells The Capital of Annapolis that she is still seeking attorneys' fees and other costs.

Hamner filed a federal lawsuit in 2010 claiming that she was fired after complaining about a 2008 incident in which she said Leopold shook her and berated her for her hairstyle.

Leopold resigned from office in February after his conviction in a separate criminal misconduct case.

County Executive Laura Neuman said in a statement on Tuesday that the settlement closes a "sad and sordid chapter" in the county's history.
