Home Sales Up in Maryland

Homes sales are up on the Lower Eastern Shore.

They have jumped by 11 percent so far this year.

The coastal Association of Realtors found that 832 homes were sold this year in the tri-county area of Somerset Wicomico and Worcester.

Rising confidence in the economy has prompted interest rates to go up over the last year with rates now standing at 4.5 percent for a mortgage.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Maryland statewide has seen sales rise by 13 percent according to the Maryland Association of Realtors.

And the driver in this spending spree appears to be homes priced between $200-thousand and $400-thosuand.

Sale in that market have risen by 22 percent over last year.
