Heavy Rain
It’s wet on the highways today with a crash that is causing major delays on the southbound Delaware route 1 south to Tybouts Corner.
The Wilmington News Journal is reporting that one lane is closed…with traffic moving around 8 mph.
Meanwhile, heavy rain has hit Delaware with DelDOT reporting flooding at the Delaware Route 1 and 1A junction in the Rehoboth Beach Area in addition to a serve road.
The News Journal reports that there is a flood advisory in effect for Sussex County and the National Weather Service expects 2 to 4 inches of rain over the last 24 hours.
A flash flood watch has been issued until late tonight for the northern part of Delaware.
Delmarva Power is reporting that around 15-hundred customers were without power by mid-morning – most in Talbot County.
Pedestrian Hit By Bus
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 37-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a Delaware Transit bus in Rehoboth Beach.
Police say the crash occurred Thursday night along Route 1 the man walked his bicycle in the road with his back to traffic. They say the bus was changing lanes to make a left turn on Shuttle Road when it hit the man from behind. The man was taken to Beebe Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The bus was out of service at the time and the driver was not injured.
The Delaware Department of Transportation says the driver was taken to a local medical facility for routine drug and alcohol testing.
