Washington High School Principal William Johnson has fired back at his critics defending his first-year record and called on two Somerset County school board members to apologize.
The embattled school leader denied allegation that there was excessive disruption and favoritism noting that a Year in Review found that overall high incident infractions had dropped below the previous year by more than 50 percent to 520.
Those issue in the review range from fighting and disrespect to insubordination.
The criticism against Johnson comes in the wake of the departure of Superintendent Marjorie Miles…only the second African American to hold that position.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Johnson supporters accuse critics of using her departure to force out Johnson and other blacks hired in top administration positions during her tenure.
