Woodbridge School District Not Public Enough

wsd.k12.de.us

The Delaware State Attorney’s Office invalidated votes by the Woodbridge School District’s board to break the contract of former superintendent Phyllis Kohel and appoint assistant superintendent Heath Chasanov into the position.

It found that the violated the Freedom of Information Act by making the decision behind closed doors.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the five member board and some school administrators must also take FOIA training and detail procedures for disclosures needed for future meetings.

The Attorney General’s office concluded that the two meetings in July by the board was “rife with examples of where the board frustrated rather promoted the public’s right to observe and monitor the board performance.”
