AstraZeneca says it is cutting another 23-hundred jobs worldwide by 2016 in addition the layoffs announced this past Monday.

That totals just over 5-thousand in the next 15 months.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the majority of the reductions are either underway or that employees have been notified.

At the US headquarters in Delaware half of the 12-hundred would be done through transfers.

The paper reports that most of the reductions hit US research and development as the company reorganizes its laboratory operations.
