The Salisbury Police Department is looking into why police pursued a teenager, Jorgens Sydney, in a car chase involving two patrol units that resulted in his death, when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Pine Bluff Road and Camden Avenue.
The two officers who were driving during the chase last Thursday night have been put on paid administrative leading pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Salisbury Daily Times has asked for the names of the patrolman and corporal involved in the chase as well as items ranging from the dashboard camera recordings and the incident report to the amount of time it took to reach the emergency room after the crash.
Sydney, a student at James M. Bennett high school, was pronounced dead at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
