Ocean City Pier Will Be Back Next Summer

Meehan, oceancitymd.gov

By next year the iconic Ocean City pier will be back in business with repairs completed on the damage done by Hurricane Sandy.

Around 100 to 150 feet of the pier disappeared into the ocean when the waves hit the coastline in late October.

Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan told the Salisbury Daily Times that the pilings took a real beating snapping under the pressure of the storm.

The Mayor said that the current franchise holder for the structure Buddy Jenkins has already made a commitment to rebuild the pier.

The paper reports that Jenkins did not return its phone calls.
