The 70 voice Chorus of Dorchester is looking for new and returning vocalists for their 50th year of rehearsals and community concerts.

No fees or auditions are necessary, and singers of all ages are encouraged to join and will be welcomed by all. The ability to read music is highly recommended but not required. The voicing is soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The theme will be sacred and secular

Some on the Eastern Shore have heard of "Witch Paddles". They are trending across the country in October. But so far no one has done one for breast cancer causes and it seems a natural fit. After all, what were witches but early American female healers? And where better to have a Witch Paddle than on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Talbot County? There were even a couple of witches tried right here on Plain Dealing Creek! And of course October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Eastern Shore has tons of warm, flat water here, so clearly it was meant to be!

On October 15th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, the first ever Witch Paddle supporting breast cancer patients through diagnosis, treatment and beyond, will be held at the Oaks Waterfront Hotel in Easton. Proceeds will benefit the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center in the effort to procure their own Faxitron machine (which will greatly speed up diagnosis and allow more procedures to be scheduled in the Center as opposed to the hospital) and Breastcancer.org which provides free up to the minute information to over 200 million patients and providers around the world to help them make the best decisions possible.

The event aims to host 40+ paddlers dressed in witch costumes and 100+ enthusiastic viewing participants to cheer them on! Individual paddlers can register and create their own team and local businesses are encouraged to sponsor their own paddlers or sponsor various stations at the event. The community is invited to view the event at no cost (contributions are appreciated) along with complimentary popcorn and s'mores by the firepit and free witch hats to kids and the young at heart who go for face-painting or pumpkin painting. There will also be a fancy VIP pier with an open bar and spooky hors d' ouvres for paddlers who reach a total team goal of $250 (or donors who contribute the same). A cash bar and a cauldron of waters will also be available for general viewers on the lawn.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session education program for family, friends and significant others of adults with mental health conditions.

NAMI Family-to-Family provides information about anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other mental health conditions. Other topics covered include communication, problem solving, treatment and recovery.

The Peter & Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series presents the Nickel and Dvorak Flute and Harp Duo.

A story you didn’t know you need to hear. Women have composed for flute and harp throughout history, blending strings and wind into a uniquely beautiful sound. This enchanting program celebrates their voices—bold, lyrical, and long overlooked. Let the music speak across time, connecting heart, history, and harmony.

This is an OPEN JAM! The host band will play the first set (starting at 7) and then open the stage to those who want to join in.

The St. Michaels Farmers Market (SMFM) is an independent, non-profit, producer-only farmers market, located in the waterfront town of St. Michaels on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

On Saturday mornings from April through November, we seek to support local farmers, foster community, and provide access to fresh food in Talbot County.

The CommUNITY Fall Fest takes place Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., beginning right after the 10K/5K Run-Walk for Mental Health at 8:00 a.m. Non-profits from across the region will gather on the OCC lawn to cheer on the runners and showcase ways to get involved locally.

Visitors can enjoy a full lineup of festivities, including:

• Live music by Jenz Frenz
• A castle bouncy house for kids
• A beer truck featuring fall brews
• Bratwursts, German potato salad, and more Oktoberfest favorites

Adding to the fun, the Oxford Garden Club will host pumpkin painting, and the festival will debut its 1st Annual Scarecrow Contest. Residents and businesses are invited to create and display their scarecrows around Oxford, with a chance to win a gift certificate from Doc’s Sunset Grille. A community map of scarecrow locations will be available at oxfordcc.org starting October 1.
