Nathan "Nearest" Green was an enslaved Black man in 19th century America who worked as a head stiller (master distiller) and emancipated after the Civil War. Green is known for teaching distillery skills to Jack Daniel, founder of the Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey distiller.

A brand of whiskey products under the Uncle Nearest label exists today.

Dr. Joshua K. Wright speaks with Fawn Weaver, founder of Uncle Nearest Whiskey.
